Multiple NIC and SNMP issues?

$

We are using ipMonitor 10 to monitor about 400 servers right now. We are moving forward with a new backup system that runs on a separate network. To make this work we are installing a secondary NIC in all of our systems. On my ipMonitor box after I installed the secondary NIC I started getting SNMP failures on most systems. So my question is, is this normal?

Setup:
NIC Team: internal network (default gateway set)
Secondary NIC: backup network  (no default gateway)

We are registering DNS for both as well. I'm trying to determine if the second NIC/network caused the issue or if it was something else. Using a SNMP test utility it would fail as well. I have since disabled the secondary NIC and things seem ok, but I did have to restart a great many systems' SNMP service before they came back online.

If it did cause the problem, is there a way to make ipMonitor only work via one of the connections? We aren't using Traps at all, just simple SNMP for things like drive space, CPU, etc.

Thanks!

Monitors randomly failing

About two weeks ago an Amazon Server I have been monitoring has been going a bit wonky.  It will randomly report that the remote device failed to respond.  I have also started another Amazon Server and am trying to set up monitoring for that but cannot get the authentication to work for scanning to add monitors.  Any ideas?

AS400 Monitoring?

I have a couple of AS/400's on site (model 720's) and I want to monitor disk space and CPU via ipMonitor. I know SNMP is working on the boxes as have had other SNMP utils able to pick up this info but there isn't a MIB available for ipMonitor.

 Anyone doing this already?

Thanks.

How to setup SNMP traps properly?

I'm not sure I understand how I'm supposed to configure SNMP trap monitoring, so I have a couple questions:

1.  With a typical device, there might be 200+ different kinds of traps.  Assuming that I want to monitor for 50 of those, am I supposed to add 50 SNMP trap monitors to the device?

2.  Is there a performance cost to having so many trap monitors?

I've attached an image showing how I setup a device monitoring our air conditioner and the related SNMP traps.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I wondering if it is possible to monitor the optical path that goes to a SAN from a DELL server (R710) having onboard a HBA Card Q-logic. Is their any MIB in particular to install and how do i get the OID needed for that??

Our company uses Ipmonitor v10 to monitor the overall system.

Your help would be really appreciated :)

Cordially,

Atish

Monitoring File or Directory Modified Date

As I understand it, we are able to have informational emails sent when the directory modified date has changed. I need to be able to trigger an alert when a directory has NOT been changed. This would signal an automation problem in our production environment. Does anyone know if it is possible to have alerts triggered by comparing the last modified date to the current date and fire if it is more than a couple of hours or so.

Hello

First sorry for my bad english.

We run IP Monitor in our company. To consult the temperature in the technical room we run a temperature sensor(HWg-STE www.hw-group.com). This is not supported by IP Monitor. Here the details and parameters of the Sensor.

How to Monitor https monitor with TLS 1.1/1.2 protocol

Hello All,

Good Afternoon!!

Dhyanesh here from IT company working as Sr. System Admin and handling IPMonitor all by myself. I have configured SSL monitors for our several production websites and monitors are all working fine on 443 port except for now we have decided to stop using TLS 1.0 and use TLS 1.1 or higher. Now the trouble has started because all my HTTPS monitors have stopped working with error: The server redirected to an unsupported protocol in IP Monitor.

So please help me how can i allow TLS 1.1 and higher support in IPMonitor.

Please let me know in case more information is needed from my end.

Thanks,

Dhyanesh Mehta

401 Access Denied using the WSDL API

I am running ipMonitor 10.6 and cannot for the LIFE of me connect to the WSDL via code.

I can see the URL in my browser just fine, but, on the same machine, via code, I immediately get a 401 Access Denied error whether I use SOAP or CURL.

Documentation is dry at best and there aren't many examples out there.

$context = stream_context_create(array('ssl' => array('verify_peer' => FALSE)));

$soapURL = 'https://domain.com/soap/status.asmx?wsdl';

$soapParameters = array  (

            'login' => 'user',

            'password' => 'password',

            'WSDL' => TRUE,

            'stream_context' => $context

            );

$soapClient = new SoapClient($soapURL,$soapParameters);

And that yields:

HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.0 401 Access Denied

Problem getting external process action to run...

I'm having some trouble getting an external process action to run.  I have a space alert monitor and when it goes off I have a powershell script that goes out to delete some spaceholder files to clear the alert.  When testing I get the error "Access rights are insufficient. The test failed".  I've tried running under multiple credentials.  I've logged into the ipMonitor server using those credentials and run the command line from the alert with no issues.  As a test, I even tried putting a bad path to the powershell.exe executable and I still get the same error so I'm not sure what it's testing to tell me access rights are insufficient?

I'm sure something is wrong, but without any more detailed errors or logs I'm having some problems troubleshooting.  Anyone else run into a similar issue or have any troubleshooting suggestions?

Is there a better way to do Process monitoring via SNMP

$

We monitor processes via SNMP using a two line powershell script which does a snmpwalk of the current running processes on the target  machines host_resource mib, returning a 0 or 1, depending it it finds the process or not. This simple script works for both Unix and Windows successfully however we have hit two problems.

The first, is that it cannot differentiate multiple processes by the same name.

The second problem is that the overhead of using powershell for these 20 external process monitors can be greater than ipmonitor itself which has over 3000 active standard monitors. I think this is because powershell is using CPU to actively check if the snmpwalk has come back yet, which can take a second or two.

Below is the simple but effective generic script which we pass the target server, community string and process name as parameters. It runs on the IPMONITOR host machine, requiring nothing installed on the target servers.

if (invoke-expression "d:\net-snmp\usr\bin\snmpwalk -v 1 -c $($args[0]) $($args[1]) 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.4.2.1.2" | select-string "$($args[2])") { Write-Host "FOUND"; exit 1 } else { Write-Host "NOT FOUND";exit 0 }

Does anyone have a better/faster/more effecive/alternate way of being able to solve or improve either of these issues?

Does anyone know if process monitoring, including monitoring multiple processes of the same name, will be added as a monitor type at any point in IPMONITOR's future?

Monitoring vCenter via IPmonitor?

$

I am trying to monitor the esxi hosts and datastores of my vCenter using IPmonitor and I havent had any luck. In my vCenter settings I have SNMP setup correctly and when I try to poll the vCenter server I only seem to get the vCenter Windows host monitors. Now, I looked around quite a bit on these forums and I havent been able to find a straight answer but I presume that the reason why this is most probably not working for me is because IPMonitor doesnt have the MIB's to poll vCenter data, true?

If so, what is the recommended process for adding those MIB's into IPMonitor?

Am I missing anything else to get this to work properly?
